Welcome to 4 Captain’s Brae, Twynholm
Set in this peaceful yet vibrant community, 4 Captain’s Brae offers comfortable accommodation for up to three people in a double bedroom with king-sized bed and a single room . For eating in, a well-equipped kitchen with microwave, fridge, cooker and dishwasher provides everything you’ll need. 100% cotton bed linen and towels are included. The cottage is heated with gas central heating and a coal-effect stove in the sitting area. Enjoy your morning coffee sitting on the patio at the rear of the property and for the afternoon there’s seating available in the small detached garden. There’s also a garden shed which can be used to lock away bicycles or push chairs.
Twynholm has lots to offer with a garage and petrol station, village shop and two hotels. You’ll find the very popular cocoa bean factory, with the David Coulthard Museum, just a short walk to the outskirts of the village. They produce hand-crafted chocolates and offer workshops for children and adults.
Twynholm is ideally placed for exploring the area. The artists’ town of Kirkcudbright with its wealth of galleries, coffee shops, hotels and craft outlets is only 3 miles away – take a wonderful stroll along the Tarff and Dee riverbanks to get there. The food town of Castle Douglas is 8 miles away and the lovely town of Gatehouse of Fleet only 5 miles. Around the area there are countless opportunities for cycling, walking, horse riding, golfing, fishing and bird-watching as well as a wonderful choice of sandy, stony or rocky bays with their abundant wildlife and fauna. The Galloway Forest has been designated the first Dark Sky Park in the UK and you only need to head north for a short distance to experience real darkness and the wonder of a starlit sky. The Forestry Commission provides information and organizes events throughout the year.
At the Cream of Galloway Ice-cream farm you can indulge in a wide range of ice-creams and frozen yogurts and the children can burn off energy in the great activity centre.
